About the area
Fortuneswell is situated at the northern edge of the Isle of Portland and is able to boast something that not many other places can, it is a short walk to the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy on the huge Portland Harbour, the venue for the London 2012 Olympic Games Sailing Events and the venue for the London 2012 Paralympics Sailing Events.

This is ensuring that the Isle of Portland in general and Fortuneswell on it's own are being brought to the attention of the UK and international public on a regular basis. This will have a very positive effect on the local tourist industry with demand for holiday cottages going up as a consquence.
The 2012 events will be watched by millions of people worldwide and no doubt, Fortuneswell and the surrounding area will be featured on various television reports and in many languages across the globe along with many of it's famous and interesting neighbours such as Portland Bill Lighthouse, Weymouth Beach, Chesil Beach, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.
Such iconic views coupled with the vast amount of activities that take place outsiode the sailing arena, rock climbing, cycling, walking, wakeboarding, paddleboarding etc. are going to help make an enhanced tourist industry the legacy of the 2012 games.
There is a holiday cottage coming available from the end of May 2011 in Fortuneswell that sleeps 5 in three bedrooms with fantastic views of Chesil Beach and the beautiful West Cliff walk.
